Wrong coordinates with vertically oriented images

Your tool worked amazing for thousands of images I've landmarked over the last year. However, I've stumbled over some images that were oriented vertically (height > width) and the landmarks are completely off only on those images. There are some vertical images where everything works as expected (in the same landmarking session). I can reproduce the error on the images that don't seem to work. Also, if I rotate those images to a horizontal orientation, landmarking works as expected again. Rotating all vertical images is my workaround for the time being.

Any hint to what could be wrong would be much appreciated.

Interesting error you are getting there. I wonder if maybe the images that do not work have the EXIF orientation tag set, which unfortunately I completely ignore in the tool and which could possibly explain the error... Are all images taken by the same camera?

Could you try out the following with one working and one failing image?

# 274 = orientation, not used for every image, so might give a KeyError
print(image.getexif()[274])

I tried both your images and both worked for me, but I think this is because these are not the original images, but rather your postprocessed images.

Thanks for the quick reply and idea where the error probably lies. The images are taken with different cameras. I tried printing the orientation tag with a working and a failing image, and indeed with the failing image I get the output 8 and the KeyError you mention on the working image.

Interesting, so it seems that this really could be the error!
I need to take some time to look into what is happening behind the scenes and to figure out if this is something that should be supported by the tool. For now, I guess it is probably easiest if you preprocess all your images so that they are stored in the correct rotation, or alternatively to rotate the landmarks based on the images rotation tags.
