App fails to start on new architecture

Logs from react-native when running the app:

 (NOBRIDGE) LOG  Bridgeless mode is enabled
 (NOBRIDGE) ERROR  TypeError: Cannot read property 'settings' of null

This issue seems to give hints as how to access the device language
facebook/react-native#33577
