Kickstarter

u/wiki_me suggested that we create a Kickstarter campaign similar to that of the pixelfed campaign (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pixelfed/pixelfed-foundation-2024-real-ethical-social-networks) which was recently successful, then use the money to buy non intrusive ads to spread the word (the users suggested duckduckgo for ads). This would give our concerns more legitimacy, instead of just being a bunch of tech nerds talking about something that others might not see as an issue.

Interesting idea, but money does make everything more complicated. We'd need a bank account and a registered nonprofit organization with statutes and a treasurer and stuff like that.

However, I'll leave this issue open for others to comment on and provide their suggestions.
