Colin McRae Rally 2005 Run-time Error

I copied the ‎32bit dsouind and dsoal-aldrv.dll into the application folder, however the game only starts to a blackscreen and hangs there, nothing else happens and has to be quit with taskmanager.

I dont know if the game stores any logs, atleast I couldnt find any.

Just tested it myself and it works without crashing so maybe it was fixed in one of those recent commits?

It works really nicely: clear reverb, especially in first person/cockpit camera. Also 3D audio works: I hear the wheels skidding on grass/gravel underneath me and the crowds behind me as I pass them by. Otherwise you might have an incorrect configuration in alsoft.ini (like not enough period size/count or WASAPI exclusive without the device being actually allowed to use exclusive mode?). So you could try deleting it (also the one in %APPDATA%) so maybe the defaults work though this one worked for me. That error does seem related to DSOAL so I take it the game runs without it? Otherwise you might wanna try a different audio device or check out the PCGamingWiki article for possible fixes.
