This plugin intends to replace the functionality of the m and ' keys that Vim provides in normal mode. By using this plugin, you don't need to memorize a register for each line you mark, you just mark it with m. Marked lines go into a list which is displayed by using the ' mapping. Upon pressing ', the quickfix window opens, populated with the already marked lines and the editor is automatically entered into search mode. This way, you can immediately type part of the line you've previously marked, hit double-enter (the first is to exit search-mode) and you're exactly where you want to be.
TurboMark saves your marks in a text file in your home directory so that it can reuse them when you fire VIM again. Keep in mind that the file paths are relative to your working directory when you opened VIM.
Just paste the package's contents into into your .vim directory.
Installing with Pathogen
cd ~/.vim/bundlegit clone git://github.com/kbairak/TurboMark.git
- Press m to mark a line.
- Press ' to open the quickfix window in search mode, to quickly find the marked line you want.
You can override the default mappings in your .vimrc, like this:
nmap <silent> mm :TurboMark<CR>
nmap <silent> '' :TurboFind<CR>
A couple of options you may want to override in your .vimrc are:
let g:TurboMarkListFile = "~/.mylistfile.txt"
(defaults to '~/.TurboMarkList.txt')
This is where TurboMark will store your
marked lines so that they can be reused when starting VIM again.
let g:TurboMarkMax = 30 (defaults to 100)
This is the maximum number of marked lines that TurboMark will remember
let g:TurboMarkSearchOnOpen = 1
This will start a vim case-insensitive search when the quickfix window is
opened so you can start typing a search for a mark as soon as you activate
TurboMark. Just remember to press a double RETURN after your search, one to
end your search and one to navigate to the file/line you want.
