- Make sure you have a version of Wwise with the WAAPI (currently only 2017.1 Alpha) - enable it by going to Project -> User Preferences -> Enable Wwise Authoring API (you may need to restart wwise)
- Open the Wwise session you would like to import into.
- Render your audio in Reaper however you normally do, but add it to the render queue - currently the output filename (without .wav) will be the imported wwise object name.
- Open the WAAPI Transfer window in the extensions menu. Any audio files that are due to be rendered from the queue will automatically pop-up.
- In the Wwise authoring application, select the parent objects you would like to import audio into then hit Add Selected Wwise Objects.
- Select the Wwise object you would like to import into in the extension menu. Then select all of the render items you would like to be imported to the selected wwise object, hit Set Wwise Import Location and their parents will be set to the corresponding Wwise object.
- When you are ready to render hit Render and Import All and the extension will render and import all of the audio. If there is an error in importing something the render queue project will be re-created with the same Wwise parents.
- During the import process you can also hit Cancel to stop it - this will not stop the render queue (you will need to do that separately)
- By default, Wwise will place the exported audio files in Originals/[SFX|Voices|Music]/myfile.wav however you can specify a sub path below the default location. To do this use the Set Originals SubPath option in Import Settings. The extension will remember previously entered sub paths this session.
- By default, the extension will copy rendered audio files from the specified audio path into the specified Wwise originals folder. If you re-export files with the same name then REAPER will complain that you are overwriting files in it's export folder. You can un-check the Copy Files to Wwise Originals and the extension will remove them from the REAPER export path once they have been copied to Wwise originals.
- The extension defaults to importing as SFX. If you want to switch back to SFX from another type open the Import Settings menu and press Import as SFX.
- To import as dialog, open the Import Settings menu and select the render items you would like to change, click Import as Dialog and/or set the dialog language to the desired language.
- Settings the Wwise parent object of a render item to a Music Segment will automatically import the item as music. Change the parent back to something else if you wish to import as SFX or dialog.
