I would recommend instead that prek be installed, and prek be used to run mypy. That will keep the controlled environment, and be fast, with fewer layers of environments. You can also use uvx instead of pipx; since uv is a dependency of hatch, you can use it anywhere you can use hatch.

If you are using hatch, I'd keep the convenience job so that users who don't know how to install prek can run everything through hatch (but I'd also do pre-commit -> prek there too).
