The footer overlaps with the Click to add cell button when it's the last cell:

Interesting... What's your sense here? Is this a bug here or in upstream? This feels like the Click to add cell is anchoring itself in a weird place.

Yes it would likely make sense to have it in core. Maybe we need to think about what happens if multiple extensions try to add widgets to the footer, and refine the API.

I tried to reproduce it by invoking the cell diff command directly, but it doesn't seem to be happening anymore.

Will keep an eye on it, and report back here if this is still an issue.
