Keyboard hides when device is rotated

1. Start out in normal/vertical orientation
2. Tap the chat field to show the keyboard.
3. Rotate the screen.

Actual: The keyboard goes away
Expected: The keyboard stays up

Notes: The cause for this is a recent change where resignFirstResponder is called in keyboardControllerKeyboardDidHide 9980266#commitcomment-9115709

There's also a problem related to this, if you

1. start the app in a vertical orientation
2. tap the input field to show the keyboard
3. rotate the device quickly horizontally and then quickly back to the vertical orientation
4. the input box is up, but the keyboard is hidden
