Renaming Media Reset Posters

I changed my naming scheme in radar and sonar and it wiped out all posters on posteria which synced to plex and now I don’t know what to do, all that time spent gone. I’m in posteria now and it’s all default no custom posters not even orphaned entries.

I am sorry you had this happen.

Posteria considers Plex to be the "source of truth" for posters. It will only update a poster on Plex when you either change a poster in Posteria via the GUI or use the "Send to Plex" button.

It sounds like what happened to you is when you changed the naming convention in Radarr/Sonarr a refresh of the metadata in Plex was triggered which downloaded new artwwork. If you had the "Auto Import" enabled in Posteria it imported the latest posters from Plex.

This is intended behavior since there is no way for Posteria to know if you intended to change the posters in Plex or not.

It sounds like you were counting on Posteria to be a backup of you posters. I would consider Posteria more of a "soft backup". If you make changes to Plex and use the "Auto Import" or even a manual Import Posteria will update to what is in Plex.

I will add an entry to the FAQ to help make this more clear.
