Native Plant Tracker

This application started as a capstone project for my degree program. For this project i was required to create a full-stack project utilizing a front-end, back-end, and database that had CRUD capabilities. As a part of this project, I also deployed the application to AWS utilizing S3 fo the front-end, Elastic beanstalk for the back-end and RDS for the postgreSQL database.

The Native Plant Tracker is meant to be a tool for those who manage native gardens or butterfly gardens. It is a way to track what has been planted, when it was planted, track changes in species composition from year to year, and compare gardens. The application now also pulls data from the Permapeople API to integrate their plant data to provide a rich user experience. This data will provide greater insight into the user's garden and improve the value provided beyond just tracking plants

I am currently working to expand garden data options to provide the user with feedback on what plants work well for their garden and for future plant suggestions based on garden conditions.

Upcoming Features

  • Add optional conditions for gardens such as location, amount of sunlight and soil moisture. (Currently working on)
  • Add AI-powered plant recommendations for users gardens based on conditions and plants that already exist in that garden
