MappedList

Now that JavaFX has been externalized from the JDK to allow for faster development iterations, I would like to ask, if there are any plans to implement a MappedList, like proposed in https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8091967?
The request is now almost 5 years old so it would be nice to know if there are any news about it :)

I'm going to bet that there are no current plans to implement this. You can use ReactFX for this functionality. What is your use case?

You meant EasyBind instead of ReactFX, right?
I personally have three problems with using EasyBind:

• the mapper function is final and immutable.
  I can think of cases where either the function should be changed at runtime or where the function is only set at a later time.
  In the later case I think the MappedList should function like an empty list
• the MappedList doesn't cache its mapped output objects.
  With small lists and simple mapper functions this isn't a problem, but if you have larger lists or more complex mapper functions this may become a problem performance wise
• the last release of EasyBind is from 2014, I'm not sure if it is still usable with the changes that may have happened in JavaFX since then.

Well, there's MappedList in ReactFX. Don't know if it's different.

Tomas Mikula's libraries are very useful and there's certainly merit in adding some of their features to JavaFX in my opinion, but

• it takes a lot of planning to do it right and adding a single feature here and there is not the way
• they don't have special primitive type variants for a lot of their classes/methods like JavaFX does to avoid auto-un/boxing, so that's a bit of an incompatibility. Could be solved in the future by Valhalla.
