Dealing with .mobi formats in calibre-web?

Since installing Calibre-Web on a headless Debian server I've come across a dead end. I cannot upload mobi or azw3 book files.
I get this error:

File type isn't allowed to be uploaded to this server

My reading device is a Kindle so I really need mobi or azw files to make it useful. I could convert through the web interface (I had to install vanilla calibre to get the binaries) but why?

Please update to the newest nightly version, or deactivate the file type check in the admin section ( admin - basic config -security)
