[Question] Are there instructions on updating the VM driver manually?

I'm in a situation where I don't have permission on the host computer to mount the virtual machine drive. I tried to do something like what the script does by copying the driver folder contents over to the VM (copy/paste while connected to the VM in enhanced mode). But when I try to update the display adapter to use that driver, it doesn't work. Here is the error: "Windows found drivers for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install them."

Are there any instructions out there that don't require mounting the VM drive that I can try?
