Binder fails

Clicking on the binder link on the main page attempts to load the page: Repository jakevdp/PythonDataScienceHandbook/master. However, the binds does load the Handbook. The Binder reports the following error after a long wait.

Binder is still broken for the scikit-image install:

You are using pip version 9.0.3, however version 10.0.1 is available.
You should consider upgrading via the 'pip install --upgrade pip' command.

This is a duplicate of #128, #117, and #108.

Summarizing best I can, this happens because the version of scikit-image used in this book does not install properly on Python 3.6 in Binder's environment. Later versions fix the install bug but introduce other problems.

For now, this can be worked around by telling Binder to use Python 3.5 instead of 3.6, as suggested here. Fork the repo, add a file runtime.txt with the contents python-3.5, and then point Binder at the fork.
