Thanks for pointing that out.

It looks like a lot of the tuning and benefits come from the kernel layer, in which case the container's use of their base image may not help much since containers run in the host's kernel.

So, if anything the onus is more on you to run Alpaquita on your bare metal or VM host and then run the Minecraft docker container on that to gain the most benefit.

With that said, I don't mind trying to add a build variant to use a base Java image from theirs, but my expectations for tangible benefits are low. For one thing I have previously found Bellsoft's Liberica Java images to be quite bloated, but they seem to have addressed that with this one.

I got a test version working although I had to pull apine packages for imagemagick and su-exec and I have no clue how safe that is between distros

I made a test version in my fork but still not really sure if it provides much over existing images

Distro optimized for java is a nice concept but seems like it builds to 371.5 MB so not lighter than alpine, does build very fast compared to Oracle and Ubuntu I've been testing though. Should be pretty easy to get working in the future if anything changes but even if Liberica JRE offers some unique feature it would probably be easier just to use their alpine image.
