Impossible to build on Ubuntu LTS 24.04

Steps to reproduce the issue

This is impossible to build with Ubuntu LTS 24.04, and almost impossible with any other Debian based Linux, too. I can paste 100500 km long list of chatbot output, if you like, but basically there's no cmake options which would allow compile and linking to go through. Used now basically the whole month's working days fighting with this, probably got cancer because of this already, and now it is time to officially ditch this piece of crap.

I guess nobody can really help you with this kind of issue report.

The build instructions are documented here: https://www.open3d.org/docs/release/compilation.html. They work. I tested this locally multiple times. Also the CI successfully builds on Ubuntu and provides the binary artifacts on the release page. If you spent a full month talking to a chatbot rather than reading the documentation and reporting build issues with logs here, then there is just nothing that can be done for you.

What exactly happens when you run the build commands from the documentation? And why do you actually have to build this from source instead of reusing the binary packages?
