@ocefpaf: I never figured out how the pre-commit hook works, but it looks like it's failing with py3.14 -- any ideas?

It wants to add the 3.14 classifier b/c that version is out. We can do:

pre-commit.ci autofix

and wait for it.

@ChrisBarker-NOAA I just tested and the dependencies are not yet solvable on py314. We can add a <3.14 in the metadata to satisfy the check, but I don't think it is worth it. I would just ignore that one for now and merge it.

I guess we wait for the deps, and then can add a test for 3.14

(note: there is also the free-threading version of 3.14 -- I"ve totall lost track of what's going on with that -- I presume that the default python.org 3.14 is not free-threading???

And that's what we want to test against here?
