/opt/homebrew/opt/python@3.12/bin/python3.12: No module named newssurvey

I installed rye via Homebrew. Executed the rye sync --no-lock in the cloned repo, but:

$ python -m newssurvey -h
/opt/homebrew/opt/python@3.12/bin/python3.12: No module named newssurvey
$ 

Not a Python person.

My Homebrew install is up to date.

I just tested the steps in a Debian 12 container. It worked fine for me.

Try in a new terminal to see if it picks up the intended Python.

Show the output of ls.

Show the output of rye list. It should include "newssurvey" as for example below:

$ rye list | grep newssurvey
-e file:///workspaces/newssurvey

Here you go:

$ rye list  | grep newssur
-e file:///Users/layer/src/newssurvey
@max[git:master]$ pwd
/Users/layer/src/newssurvey
@max[git:master]$ ls
LICENSE    analysis/  docs/	      requirements-dev.lock  scripts/
README.md  archive/   pyproject.toml  requirements.lock      src/
$

For some reason it's not picking up the correct Python or with the correct paths.

Here are two workarounds:

rye run python -m newssurvey -h

rye run newssurvey -h
