[T2.6] Reconcile docs/beta-engineering-spec.md (signed MSIX) with what ships (NSIS installer, #417) #438
Done in #504 (merged to main), and recorded in docs/BACKLOG.md as T2.6 — the
issue row was simply never closed.
docs/beta-engineering-spec.md now states plainly that the MSIX + App Installer
recommendation is SUPERSEDED and that the shipped path is the NSIS installer
(#417), with the runbook pointing at package-alpha.ps1 / package-alpha-installer.ps1 / Test-AlphaInstaller.ps1.
The part worth keeping is what the change COST, which the spec now records:
MSIX would have given install + auto-update from one hosted .appinstaller file,
so auto-update is now unbuilt rather than nearly free, and the installer had
to grow by hand what MSIX does for nothing (one stable entry point, a
manifest-driven uninstall, a refusal that says why — T2.7/#474).
Signing is unaffected either way: T0.1 (#423) is still the blocker and release.yml already refuses to ship unsigned.
