grunt-require-rev

File revisioning for RequireJS dependencies. This can be useful for caching and cache-busting with RequireJS.

Getting Started

This plugin requires Grunt ~0.4.2

If you haven't used Grunt before, be sure to check out the Getting Started guide, as it explains how to create a Gruntfile as well as install and use Grunt plugins. Once you're familiar with that process, you may install this plugin with this command:

npm install grunt-require-rev --save-dev

Once the plugin has been installed, it may be enabled inside your Gruntfile with this line of JavaScript:

grunt.loadNpmTasks('grunt-require-rev');

The "requireRev" task

Overview

In your project's Gruntfile, add a section named requireRev to the data object passed into grunt.initConfig().

Options

hash.algorithm

Type: String Default value: 'md5'

Hashing algorithm for file revisioning.

algorithm is dependent on the available algorithms supported by the version of OpenSSL on the platform. Examples are 'sha1', 'md5', 'sha256', 'sha512', etc. On recent releases, openssl list-message-digest-algorithms will display the available digest algorithms.

hash.inputEncoding

Type: String Default value: 'utf8'

The encoding of intput file contents.

hash.length

Type: Number Default value: 8

A number of hash prefix length.

paths

Type: Objects Default value: '{ scripts: '' }'

Related file and dependency path base. (key: file path base, value: requirejs dependency path base)

Contributing

In lieu of a formal styleguide, take care to maintain the existing coding style. Add unit tests for any new or changed functionality. Lint and test your code using Grunt.
