The old --dependency could only do --dependency=pkg=cid, but with public sublibraries this will become insufficient. Now there is the option to also specify a component name using --dependency=pkg:component=cid
Before, a 3-tuple was used
This gives us more type safety when dealing with libraries only
build-depends: pkgname:{pkgname,sublibname} >=0.1
where the second "pkgname" refers to the main library

This is a freeze of my multiple libraries branch (
multiple-libraries-v4, #5526) in the state it was on2018-08-14.Google clearly states that
Since I'm going to do more work on the
multiple-libraries-v4and probably rewrite the git history, I'm opening (and closing) this to record the state of #5526 at the moment GSoC ended./cc @ezyang @23Skidoo
