I am using Ubuntu 24.04.02 and a Kenwood TH-D74.

When connected via USB it appears at the serial port /dev/ttyACM0 and was not available in the list of ports in the radio config dialog. By adding /dev/ttyACM* to this list, I can select and use the radio.

Looks like a short term fix with #309 to investigate a longer term solution.

Please refactor to fit the 80 column pylint guideline.
Please create a ticket for the specific issue that you are fixing.
Please create a "changes/xxx.bugfix similar to the existing items in it that directory for the automatic update of the NEWS.rst file for releases.

Changed the way how to load serial ports. This should also solve #309
