Sync from exported HTML file

Normally you'd just upload your My Clippings.txt file from your Kindle device, but there are scenarios where you might want to highlight and take notes from non-Kindle devices (e.g. a Windows PC or an Android phone) and you can only export your notes to an HTML file through the Kindle app.

Will it ever be possible to sync notes and highlights from such a file?

I'm going to give this a shot and try to implement this myself and make a pull request. I could use this functionality as well.

for books that arent purchased through the kindle store that have cross-platform notes this would be the only way to export them

We really need this feature, it would be a lifesaver for syncing highlights across platforms. Thanks for the efforts so far!
