melt.data.frame fails if there are no value variables

Eg:

> df <- data.frame(x="a", y="b", z="c")
> melt(df)
Using x, y, z as id variables
Error in measure.attributes[[1]] : subscript out of bounds

It should return the data.frame unchanged, as per previous behaviour.

A thousand thanks for fixing this, version 1.4 mysteriously broke tons of my scripts. Can I ask when we might see this fix on CRAN?

@cboettig I currently have 3 packages in CRAN limbo, so probably not for a while. There's only so much needless aggravation that I can take.

okay, thanks for the heads up and good luck with the nonsense. Glad to have
the bug fixed and I've updated the version of the dependency in most of my
DESCRIPTION files

D'oh. I just fell into this … but via tidyr::gather() in my case.

Confirmed I was using reshape2 from CRAN, i.e. reshape2_1.4, so I know what to do.
