This tutorial aims to teach researcher why they should use git, and how to use git.

It is designed to be taught as part of the Software Carpentry python course: https://swcarpentry.github.io/python-novice-gapminder/. We introduce git just before section 7, "Reading Tabular Data into DataFrames", we then ask participants to practice git version control using their scripts that they make suring the rest of the python course.
