Update sample to use latest plugin version

Currently the example uses an old plugin version (0.8.x) while they latest is 0.9.x which had breaking changes.

Upgrading just required changing the version number: #749 (I happened to upgrade Gradle at the same time, but that wasn't necessary.) What problem are you having?
