Cleanup tmp dirs in background if possible

Without this change, when cleanup_tmp_directories is enabled the deleting function call cleanup_temporary_paths will block the initialization.

Here I propose to delete them with the _checkpoint_deleter. So if the deleter has enable_background_delete turned on, those tmp dirs will be deleted in the background.
