Hi, I experienced the same problem. The way I solved it was by clearing all the browser cache, Reinstall gemini cli (latest version) but make sure uninstall or remove the old version and clear the cache npm cache clean then trying to log in again, and i don't know why its worked.

I tried the above and it did not work for me at all. I continue to be unable to log into the CLI.

I was wrong. I tried the above with... bun. As it turns out, you should never install the gemini cli with bun, see #8102 (comment)

uninstalling with bun and reinstalling with npm fixed it for me.

I was facing the same problem and the gemini-cli report

Failed to login. Message: Failed to exchange authorization code for tokens: request to https://oauth2.googleapis.com/token failed, reason: connect ETIMEDOUT

It turns out I didn't configure the right vpn in my cli environment and cannot reach https://oauth2.googleapis.com/token.

I had VPN enabled on my system for work. As soon as I disconnected the VPN it started working.
