Backup taking too long to finish in ubuntu 14.0 and Couchdb 1.6

I am trying to backup a sample database (size <100kb) using couchbackup. I am referring this link.

couchbackup --db mydb > mydb.txt

Even a small db is taking too much time and I see following updates (pic attached) on my terminal. I have to manually abort backup to get back.

Any reason for this unusual backup behaviour? Are any additional settings required?

This project has now been superseded by @cloudant/couchbackup - I suggest trying with the newest release (2.0.0) of that library - you should get a more descriptive error message.
