Enable debug logging

I see a lot of _log.debug calls scattered throughout the codebase. It looks like the log level is controlled by preference glide.logging.loglevel, but I can't seem to figure out how to change this value. Is there a canonical way to enable debug logging?

If you set the glide.logging.loglevel pref to Debug you should see lots of logs in the browser toolbox.

Fair warning that it is very noisy, we should have some way to split it up to only enable debug logging for certain aspects.

Thanks! That's fine, just wanted to figure out how. pnpm mach run --setpref glide.logging.loglevel=Debug did the trick for me.

Ah I see, would be great to add that to the contributing docs.

fwiw setting it the "normal" way through about:config will also work if you need to enable it while glide is already running.

Ah, gotcha that's quite cool. I'm not at all knowledgable about FireFox development, so lots of this is new to me.

Also, I seem to have somehow permanently enabled debug logging in my terminal instance now.. That is, pnpm launch now logs all debug messages, regardless of my glide.logging.loglevel value. I assume it's cached on disk somewhere, but I can't seem to figure out where. Any ideas?

You're still getting logs even if you run with --setpref glide.logging.loglevel=Error?

Ah and it's worth calling out that pnpm launch will use the same firefox profile across sessions. So in general that'll be why you could see persisted state.

To get a fresh environment you can run with --temp-profile.
