[Code Quality] Improve Quick Start documentation with progressive disclosure #12492

@github-actions

Description

@github-actions

Description

The Quick Start guide (docs/src/content/docs/setup/quick-start.md) has a flat information hierarchy that makes it difficult for users to quickly assess "Can I use this?" versus "How do I use this?". New users must scroll through extensive customization options even when they just want basic setup.

Current Problems

  1. Prerequisites appear too late - Prerequisites section comes after introductory content (line 16), forcing users to read explanatory text before knowing if they can proceed
  2. No progressive disclosure - The "Going further" customization section (lines 65-92) is fully expanded, adding scrolling overhead for users who just want the basics
  3. Missing "Time to complete" - No indication of how long the quick start will take
  4. Flat structure - All content at the same level makes scanning difficult

Suggested Changes

1. Move Prerequisites to Top (Before line 8)

## Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

-**AI Account** - A [GitHub Copilot](https://github.com/features/copilot) subscription, or API key
-**GitHub Repository** - Maintainer access required
-**GitHub Actions** - Enabled in your repository
-**GitHub CLI** (`gh`) - [Install here](https://cli.github.com) v2.0.0+
-**Operating System**: Linux, macOS, or Windows with WSL

**Time to complete**: ~5 minutes

2. Add Collapsible "What You'll Build" Section

## What You'll Build

In this guide you'll add an automated [**Daily Repo Status Report**] that runs automatically every day.

<details>
<summary><b>About This Workflow</b></summary>

The Daily Repo Status Report analyzes:
- Recent repository activity
- Progress tracking and highlights
- Project status and recommendations
- Actionable next steps

</details>

3. Collapse Customization Section (Lines 65-92)

<details>
<summary><b>Going Further - Customize Your Workflow</b></summary>

[Current customization content here]

</details>

Files Affected

  • docs/src/content/docs/setup/quick-start.md

Success Criteria

  • Prerequisites appear before any explanatory content
  • "Time to complete" added to prerequisites section
  • Customization options wrapped in <details> tag
  • "What You'll Build" section with collapsed details added
  • Information hierarchy supports fast scanning
  • New users can complete basic setup without unnecessary scrolling

Priority

High - This is the primary onboarding document for all new users (highest traffic)
