Key Features

  • Uses GitHub Issues as the only persisted backlog and workflow authority
  • Calls core Spec Kit taskstoissues only for missing task issues
  • Uses deterministic issue keys, branches, worktrees, assignment keys, commit trailers, and event markers so retries converge
  • Installs through the Spec Kit registrar for every built-in AI integration
  • Uses native parallel worker delegation when available and sequential execution otherwise
  • Keeps tasks.md as read-only implementation and dependency context
  • Keeps Trello, Linear, GitHub Projects, Jira, and Azure DevOps as optional mirrors only

Testing Checklist

  • Extension installs successfully via download URL
  • All commands execute without errors
  • Documentation is complete and accurate
  • No security vulnerabilities identified
  • Tested on at least one real project

Submission Requirements

  • Valid extension.yml manifest included
  • README.md with installation and usage instructions
  • LICENSE file included
  • GitHub release created with version tag
  • All command files exist and are properly formatted
  • Extension ID follows naming conventions (lowercase-with-hyphens)

Testing Details

Tested on:

  • Linux with Spec Kit 1.0.5.dev0 from current upstream main
  • Codex skills integration and the Generic bring-your-own-agent initialization path
  • Direct registrar rendering for all 40 current built-in AI integrations

Test project:

  • Clean temporary Spec Kit projects initialized locally
  • Public release URL installed directly into a fresh project

Test scenarios:

  1. Parsed and validated the 0.3.1 extension manifest.
  2. Installed the published maqa.zip asset; all five canonical commands were present.
  3. Rendered all five command entries independently for every current built-in integration.
  4. Repeated registration and verified byte-identical output for every integration.
  5. Reproduced issue Add John Lam as contributor and release badge #1 exactly with MAQA 0.1.3 on Spec Kit 0.4.3.
  6. Installed the public MAQA 0.3.1 asset successfully on the same Spec Kit 0.4.3 checkout.
  7. Verified the Generic integration can install the extension and retain canonical command sources.
  8. Ran extension and AI integration tests: 240 passed.
  9. Ran upstream catalog and GitHub workflow tests: 542 passed.
  10. Ran JSON and whitespace validation plus a static security review: no executable scripts or secrets; GitHub operations are locked to remote.origin.url; forced dirty-worktree removal is prohibited.

The commands are agent prompt contracts. Their provider-specific renderings were validated without performing destructive mutations in an unrelated live project.

Example Usage

specify extension add maqa --from https://github.com/GenieRobot/spec-kit-maqa-ext/releases/download/maqa-v0.3.1/maqa.zip

Additional Context

This is an update to the existing MAQA 0.1.6 community catalog entry. The 0.2.0 candidate was not released; 0.3.1 incorporates the GitHub-Issues-first, agent-neutral, and idempotent workflow plus the compatibility fix for issue #1. It supersedes 0.3.0.

A direct draft catalog PR was closed after reviewing the publishing guide because community extension updates must go through this issue template and maintainer triage.

AI disclosure: OpenAI Codex implemented the extension changes, ran the reported validation, and drafted this submission under the repository owner's direction. The owner selected the scope and explicitly authorized the merge, release, and Spec Kit submission. This issue text is AI-assisted.

The generated catalog PR (#4483) can't merge because your submission is internally inconsistent: the form declares Required Spec Kit Version: >=0.3.1, but the published extension.yml at maqa-v0.3.1 says >=0.3.0. We don't hand-edit catalog entries — please fix it on your end so the two agree (update extension.yml, or correct the form value to match), then comment here and we'll re-trigger the validation workflow. Closing #4483 in the meantime; a corrected run will generate a fresh one.

Corrected the submission so both the Required Spec Kit Version field and proposed catalog entry now declare >=0.3.0, matching the published maqa-v0.3.1 extension.yml exactly. The release artifact and version remain unchanged. Please re-trigger the validation workflow when ready.
