Setup

  • Which version of Git for Windows are you using? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

issue only occurs if the following config option is set
[status]
submoduleSummary = true

Details

  • Which terminal/shell are you running Git from? e.g Bash/CMD/PowerShell/other

tried with cmd, ps and git bash, same problem

create new folder
cd into folder
git init .
git status <- takes about 3-4 secs to complete
  • What did you expect to occur after running these commands?

instant git status execution

  • What actually happened instead?

git status takes 3-4 secs to complete
