[Bug]: Recorded video game is not played properly #510
Hi, for some reason, the recorded gameplay isn’t playing properly. The audio works, but the video is extremely laggy, has a very low frame rate, and freezes.
@Artaherzadeh please give us some more details on the version and your hardware.
Also, does it affect only the preview or also the export?
Is you game playing in background while editing the preview (OpeScreen rendering is using the GPU as well as your game)?

Hi, I’m using an up-to-date Windows 11 system with a 12400K CPU, 6700XT GPU, and 32 GB of DDR4 RAM. The issue affects both preview and export, and, as you can see, the audio is missing and doesn’t play in the background while editing. I started recording, launched Forza Horizon 6, played the game, then stopped the recording and exited. Regarding rendering, I don’t have that option in the settings or elsewhere, so I’m not sure which renderer it uses. However, I only have one GPU.
Thanks @Artaherzadeh, that helps. To find where the frames get lost, could you send the following?
A diagnostics file. Right after a choppy recording, before you record again, use Save Diagnostics from the tray menu and attach the file.
What you recorded. A whole display or the game window? Was Forza in exclusive fullscreen, borderless or windowed? At what resolution and refresh rate?
The audio. Your first message said the audio works, the later one that it is missing. Is it missing from the exported file itself, or only silent while you preview in the editor?
Two quick comparisons.
Record 30 seconds of your desktop with no game running. Is it smooth?
Record the game again with its frame rate capped at 60, or on a lower graphics preset. Is it smooth now?

Entire screen. Also, FH6 was full-screen at 1080p resolution and played at around 60FPS (My monitor is 100Hz).
The audio is missing from the editor (as you saw in the first video I uploaded) but exists in the export. For some reason, the OS can't play the audio while in Editor mode, but for other applications in Windows, it can play the audio.
The game is smooth, but the same issue happened again with the recording. I uploaded a video. This is the export file, and you can see that it is stuttering a lot.
Another issue is that I optimized Forza Horizon 6 to run at around 60 FPS, but while recording with Open Screen, you can see that I received a notification about low VRAM. When I do the same thing with OBS, the export is smooth and perfect, and I never receive an error for VRAM.
@Artaherzadeh could you retest with the current v2.0.0 release? It changed how the capture threads are scheduled on Windows, which is the usual cause of this kind of stutter. If it is still choppy, a tray → Save Diagnostics file taken right after the recording would tell us where the frames are lost.

This is not the Software. Connect your Camera in the right USB Slot. USB 3.0 or faster.

There is no camera involved in this issue
