Description
Thank you for helping keep Windows Media Center alive! I have some files and information that I have collected to support playback of ISO movie disc files under Windows Media Center, so I thought I would share that here. The most challenging part is tracking down some of the older files.
Basic Functionality
Several pieces are needed in order to make this work optimally, but core ISO playback functionality requires just Mikinhho Media Center Mount Image plus software to mount a disc image file as a virtual drive:
Mikinho Media Center Mount Image
- Details
- Need to have the correct 32-bit or 64-bit install to match your Windows installation
- Old Setup Walkthrough from 2010 on How-To Geek
- When first setting up and testing, it is suggested to use a smaller, locally-stored ISO file for testing if possible
- Corequisites – Must have one of the following installed, which will be used to mount the ISO image in a virtual optical drive:
- Virtual CloneDrive (freeware)
- DVDFab Virtual Drive (freeware)
- Alcohol 120%
- PowerISO
- Daemon Tools Lite
- If none of these are available, it will then attempt to use the default file handler for the file extension
- Installers
- 32-bit: mount-image-setup-x86-1.9.zip [from Software.Informer]
- 64-bit: mount-image-setup-x64-1.9.zip [from a Google Drive]
Enhanced Integration
The basic functionality will just show colored cards with the file name in Windows Media Center’s movie browser, but the following can be used to associated additional metadata with the various disc image files.

- Details
- System Requirements and Prerequisites
- 32-bit Microsoft Access runtime (or full program), version 2010 SP2 or better
- Data is in 32-bit format, so 64-bit versions will not work
- If a 64-bit version is already installed, the 32-bit version can be installed side-by-side if it is of a different version
- Example: If Access 2016 64-bit full program is installed, the Access 2010 SP2 32-bit runtime can be installed side-by-side
