What would you like to be added:
The issue proposes in-place updates for machines where in the machine spec should be updated without the machines being replaced by MCM.

#751 is a sub-issue of this.

One such implementation is done with Machine Controller Manager Provider AWS (Reference PR) to solve the issue to support Calico's CrossSubnets feature.
