allow setting error & output streams

Before making this tool a library, it made sense to set output to either
stderr/stdout as necessary. But now as a library, users should be able
to specify their error or output streams themselves defaulting to
stderr/stdout respectfully. Therefore, allow users to set their
error/out streams.
