New projects are being created incomplete

So, here's what happens when I create a new project with this wizard:

I get this:

and this notification:

So here are the issues so far:

1. Why do I have to configure the Android Framework after the project was created? Shouldn't this be automatic or questioned at the Wizard?

2. Why there's no Dart framework detected and I have to dig into the Flutter SDK files to find it?

3. Just take a look at the Flutter logo on the Root of the project, as soon as I configure the Android Framework, it's gone (to be seen soon).

So, lets continue then.

I will add the Dart SDK, this is what I have now:

This is what I get after searching inside the Flutter SDK folders for a while:

Which is curious, because it says I am using Dart version 2.2.0, but flutter --version says I am using Dart 2.1.2, so I guess I have no clue where to find the actual Dart SDK then.

Then I click to add the Android Framework that was automatically detected and this pops up:

And now the Flutter logo on the Root on my project is gone! Why?

This is my module settings with the Android Framework configured:

All looks good....But, this is the project configuration:

Which shows no SDK for the project.

(one time I had this out folder vanish in another project and I had to add it again to the project's configuration).

So, if I start an Android Emulator and try to run it like this, I get this error:

Which I had to google to find out that this is what you get when there's a space in your project's path (maybe add a hint when this error occurs, like hey do you have an space on your path? or warn users when there's a space in their path, or just make it work with spaces?).

And then it compiles, installs and works.

So, this is my experience when I create a new Flutter project in IntelliJ IDEA, I think there's a lot of room for improvement.

This is a new one to me.

@stevemessick: do you have thoughts about the Android Framework bits?

@feinstein: do you have a Flutter SDK set (Languages & Frameworks > Flutter)?

When Android asks to configure the Android framework you should decline. Flutter manages all the Android stuff for you. The IDE is just getting in the way here. I think we managed to make that query stop happening when projects are created with Android Studio, but not IntelliJ.

Not sure what happened with your Flutter SDK but once it is set the Dart SDK is automatically set to work with the one Flutter uses.

@stevemessick I opened Android Studio 3.3.2 and the New Flutter Project wizard is not showing anymore.

I will try to reinstall all the plugins and see if it comes to life.

I tried to reinstall Dart and Flutter but it didn't change

Ok, my bad, I had disabled some plugins to increase performance, apparently the New Flutter Project wizard option won't appear if the Android APK Support plugin is disabled.

Well, now I created a new project in Android Studio, just to see if would be different, after the wizard finishes, this is what I get:

• No Flutter logo on the project root
• Run and Debug buttons are disabled.

I don't know what I did (I tried the option "Run...", opened the AVD Manager and started an Emulator and many others), but while I was pritting this screen with ShareX the buttons where enabled and a build started.

So, just to continue my saga, I decided to open this same project (created at Android Studio) in IntelliJ IDEA, and this is what I get:

There's no Run configuration created, so I can't Run it.

Since Android Studio and IntelliJ share the same core, shouldn't they accept the same Flutter project interchangeably?

Looks like a bad IDE installation. The simplest fix is probably to delete IntelliJ and Android Studio then reinstall both. When prompted during initial start-up, do not use the settings from a previous installation.

I would not recommend disabling any plugins that Android Studio ships with.
