As discussed in this thread, on startup SDL requests the desktop to disable compositing. This is good for performance in games or full-screen applications but may cause issues with other programs running in windowed mode.
This PR changes the default behavior, leaving compositing as is, and adds configuration options to restore it if needed.
This issue only affected Linux systems using NVidia cards.
