How to merge somkeview files？

Hi All,
Sorry, I sent it to the wrong forum just now, now I send it again
I am running my model using OpenMP according to the FDS user manual, but the SMV files are split. The manual states that when the job completes, you can reconstruct the Smokeview file by appending the numbered files to the main Smokeview file. However, I don't know how to combine them together？

Try cat *.smv > tempfile mv tempfile newfile smv tempfile and newfile can be any legal filename

what I said should work but I think this is what was intended from the user guide excerpt you posted cat CHID_*.smv >> CHID.smv where CHID is the basename of you case. It is important that you use two '>' characters ie >> as this appends to the CHID.smv file , does not overwrite it
