Summary of Changes

Hello @joehan, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request reintroduces Python into the Docker image, specifically to enable support for Cloud Functions, and refines the Dockerfile's package management process. The changes address a reported issue by optimizing the order of apk commands and centralizing cache cleanup, which collectively enhances the efficiency of Docker image layer management and build times.

Highlights

  • Python Reintroduction: Python (specifically python3 and py3-pip) has been added back into the Docker image, primarily to support Cloud Functions.
  • Dockerfile Optimization: The apk commands in the Dockerfile have been reordered to first update, then add packages, then upgrade, and finally clean the cache, which helps in creating more efficient Docker layers.
  • Cache Cleanup Consolidation: The rm -rf /var/cache/apk/* command for cleaning the apk cache has been moved and consolidated into the main package installation step, removing it from the emulator setup command.

Code Review

This pull request adds Python back to the Docker image and refactors the package installation commands. The changes are generally good, but I've suggested a small improvement to the Dockerfile RUN command to make it more efficient and idiomatic.
