Summary of Changes

Hello @richieforeman, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request integrates a new Gemini CLI extension into the firebase-tools repository. The extension aims to streamline developer workflows by allowing AI models to interact with Firebase services through a defined context and command execution mechanism. This enhancement facilitates AI-driven development for tasks such as database management, authentication, and application deployment within the Firebase ecosystem.

Highlights

  • New Gemini CLI Extension: This pull request introduces a new Gemini CLI extension for Firebase, enabling AI-powered interactions with Firebase services.
  • Firebase Context File: A new markdown file, FIREBASE.md, has been added to serve as the context for the Gemini extension, guiding its understanding and interaction with Firebase services and tools like firebase_get_environment, firebase:init, firebase:deploy, and firebase_read_resources.
  • Extension Configuration: The gemini-extension.json file has been added to define the 'firebase' extension, linking it to the FIREBASE.md context file and configuring the execution of firebase-tools@latest mcp via npx with a specific environment variable (IS_GEMINI_CLI_EXTENSION) for its operation.

Code Review

This pull request introduces a GCLI extension for firebase-tools by adding the necessary gemini-extension.json configuration and a FIREBASE.md context file. The changes are straightforward and enable integration with Gemini CLI. I have a couple of suggestions to improve clarity and stability. In FIREBASE.md, I recommend making the language more precise for the AI model. In gemini-extension.json, I suggest pinning the firebase-tools dependency to a major version instead of using @latest to prevent unexpected breaking changes for users. Overall, this is a valuable addition.
