Bug: Store: Checking for updates is preventing files from running

Description

I am finding that when booting up files it can hang for a very long time. Maybe 5-10 seconds before even UI visuals like hover buttons activiate. Clicking can sometimes cause the "App not responding" windows does.

Looking at the log - STORE: Checking for updates is the biggest time to finish

This should not cause files to lock up. Background task maybe.

Steps To Reproduce

1. Open app fresh / or from tray
2. Check logs to see how long STORE: Checking for updates takes
3. Should not take too long / lock up files

Update checks already happen in the background and shouldn't cause anything to freeze. Does this only happen when there is an update ready to install?
