Switching branches in Git makes editor freeze

I try to use git more. I noticed when I switch to a branch with quite some changes, the editor freezes (I see a white overlay) and never recovers.

This mostly happens when I have several tabs with files open. This isn't new, it was in some previous versions also the case.

The temporary solution is to close the editor before switching.

Hm, never had that issue. Do you have "auto reload changed files" enabled?

No I have not enabled this feature.

I've seen that a few times but never got to find a reproducible scenario...
