Audio passthrough

Audio passthrough icon

A simple app to play audio signals from either your microphone or external line-in devices (usually USB) direct to your speakers.

Usage Scenario

I build this app because I wanted to listen to my vinyl record player on my Studio Display speakers. Mordern Macs does not seems to have in-line 3.5mm jacks anymore, but you can get USB-C adapters like this 3.5mm or this RCA (both are Amazon affliate link) to connect your mic or analog audio devices to your Macs. However, macOS by itself can detect such signals but would not play the audio directly. There are some solutions to these like GarageBand, Audacity, or Audio Hijack but they are more complicated than what I actually need. This should be a very lightweight app to listen to your old analog music playback like your old cassette or vinyl.

How to use

You can download the app here. Make sure you plug your USB to 3.5 microphone jack to your Mac. Start the app, select the USB device and press the 'Start loopback' button. Sound should come out from your active audio output.

Since this is a very early beta, I would appreciate some feedback on the app. Help me help you.

Support Me

The app itself is free, but if you appreciate this app and would like to support my efforts, consider to give me a tip through PayPal. Any amount is welcomed with thanks.
