add julia #6080
Description
Activity
But the problem is that julia-wasm is 64bit wasm.
Just guessing it can be patched for 32 bit ?
when making the next emscripten version update, we should consider to add 32bit and 64bit variants.
But this might take a while.Reacted by wangyenshuAnother potential difficulties with julia is that the precompilation step uses too much memory. For some packages, it can go up to 6GB. But most browser only offer 4GB for WebAssembly. I don't know if precompiling on host machine then loading the precompiled code to the virtual filesystem works or not.

its also very outdated
But that is the only project that ports Julia repl to browser.
I see https://github.com/emscripten-forge/recipes/tree/emscripten-6x/recipes has wasm64 support. How to use 64bit in a recipe? @DerThorsten I am interested in adding Julia.

just make a recipe as usual and then make a PR against the emscripten-6x branch. This will build the recipe for emscripten-wasm32 and emscripten-wasm64.
For emscripten-wasm64, -m64 is added to the default emcc arguments via the compilers activation script. To skip a platform / only build for a certain platform, one can add the following to the extra section of a recipe:
extra: recipe-maintainers: - SomeMaintainerHere ci: exclude_platforms: - emscripten-wasm32
this would then only build for emscripten-wasm64.
The build packages are then uploaded to this channel: https://prefix.dev/channels/@emscripten-forge-bot/emscripten-forge-6x.
Keep in mind that all of this is brandnew and there might be breaking changes wrt. how we build wasm64 packages
