Gameplay
The Gameplay tab contains several sets of possible keybinds that affect core areas of gameplay -- the power trays, teammate and pet selection, and some helpful functions that didn't belong anywhere else. Let's take a look:
The Power Tray Buttons section at the top allows you to rebind the keys that are used to trigger the icons in the first three trays, as well as in the server tray. Most people aren't going to use this, as they're used to and happy with the default binds that the game assigns to these trays, but BindControl lets you reassign individual keys or whole rows, just in case you want to do this.
In order to turn on the binds for a given tray, you need to activate the checkbox on the left of that tray. Once you've done that, you can click each individual tray / slot button and assign it directly, or you can use the "Fill" button on the right of each row to fill the slots with the numbers 1-0. If you hold down one of the mod keys (SHIFT or CTRL or ALT) while clicking the "Fill" button, you'll fill the slots with, for instance ALT1 - ALT0. In this way, you can reassign which mod key triggers each row quickly and easily.
Also at the right are buttons to bind keys for the "next tray" and "previous tray" functionality for each of the three power trays that do that.
There's a whole UI / UX juggle that needs to happen if you do this, so if you're planning to change around your power tray keys, make sure the "Keybind Profile" picker at the bottom of the section matches what you have chosen in the "Keybinding" options in City of Heroes.
The "Keep Existing / Default Tray Binds" checkbox is for advanced use, and you'll probably want to leave it unchecked. You can click on the blue Help button to the right of it to get a fuller explanation of what's going on there.
The Combined Team / Pet Select binds allow you to assign keys to each party "slot" and select among teammates and pets with that key. This works with the "Team / Pet Select Mode" picker to define how these keys act.
For instance, if you choose the Select Mode "Teammates, then pets", and then assign F1 to "Select First Team Member / Pet" then pressing F1 would first select your first teammate, then the next press would select your first pet. Subsequent presses will continue to rotate between the two. You can choose teammates first, pets first, teammates only, or pets only, making this a flexible and easy way to select members of your party directly.
The Team Select binds are a bit more complicated to set up and use, but are extremely useful if your playstyle involves selecting each member of your team in rotation. The core of the binds are "Select Previous Teammate" and "Select Next Teammate" which will cycle through your party in either direction, wrapping around at either end.
In order to do this, the binds need to be made aware of how many people are in your team. The "Increase Team Size" and "Decrease Team Size" binds will alter the binds' idea of how many people are in your team. For instance, if you were playing solo, and join a team with four other people, you'd press the "Increase Team Size" key four times, to let the binds know you're in a five-member team now.
Also, optionally, the binds can be set up to skip over you in the Next / Previous order, if you're just wanting to buff or heal your teammates and not yourself. In order to do that, you'd use the "Increase Team Position" and "Decrease Team Position" keys, which let the keybinds know which position in the party is you. For instance, if you were in third position in the party list, you'd press the "Increase Team Position" key three times -- you start out in "No Spot" -- which would then let the binds know you are in the third spot. The "Select Next Teammate" key would then, on successive presses, select Teammate 1, Teammate 2, skip to Teammate 4, Teammate 5, then back around to Teammate 1. This feature is optional and a little bit fiddly. If you don't use those keybinds, you'll remain in "No Spot" and will not be skipped over at all.
To keep you from needing to count and keep track, the binds will give you feedback as you change things, via a self-/tell:

Finally, the "Reset Team Rotation" key will return the binds to thinking you are solo, and in "No Spot", which is useful when you leave a group or just want to reset the scheme and reconfigure it.
