Elementor frontend not triggering script

I changed the wp_enqueue_script() for both editor_scripts() and widget_scripts() to use a remote script and now my widget only renders in elementor-frontend and not elementor-editor. Any idea why that would be?

Context: the script references a div id in the hello world render()
