Metaspaces are not shown if no real spaces in panel

Steps to reproduce

1. Log in to account with no joined spaces.
2. Enable some Metaspaces in Quick settings - they should show normally.
3. Refresh the page, they will disappear from left-left panel.
4. Go to Quick settings and touch metaspace settings (enable or disable some) - they will show up in panel.

Outcome

What did you expect?

I expect that they should not disappear on reload the app.

What happened instead?

They disappear!

Hmm, strange... Here is screencast of my reproducing:

Browser: Firefox 96, also reproducible in Chromium.

It is reproducible on custom instance (docker image), and on app.element.io, but seems isn't reproducible on develop.element.io (version d4a019b-react-818fddd72c7a-js-ea0eaff212a7 ) - seems fixed on develop already?

I just switched to Matrix.org/Element and came across the same issue. But I can't confirm that it is already fixed on develop.element.io. For me it happens in Firefox 100, Chromium 99 and Element Desktop 1.10.12.

Are there any information I could provide to help fix this?
